This is a rather new technique for even me and as I practice it I hope to find its heights and limits, it can bee used for other things such as focusing only on the tasks you need immediately done but its greatest purpose for me is getting rid of fear.
Whenever I start to feel fear for whatever reason and I don't mean the fear of being homeless or of going to bed hungry or if your about to be physically harmed...this is for mental and spiritual fear only.
I stop and I widen my eyes a bit with force and I look around my immediate area closely with them widened and I say with force to myself :
"EYES, WIDE, OPEN".
Its important to pause on each word and say them clearly while looking at everything around you closely, inspecting it, look above and below. Its not a battle cry its a command so say it with quiet authority in your head or outloud, it is absolute.
Since fear is born in the arena of the mind I have begun to feel it as a grey fog cloud that creeps up the back of your neck and drapes itself over the back of your brain like a mist to tamper with your circuits.
so when I say "EYES,WIDE,OPEN" I am alerting my brain to pay attention to what is really there as oppossed to what I have created myself, I see the paint on the wall is paint on the wall, the chair is the chair, I am standing in the kitchen...dishes are in front of me...Acknowledging these things anchors you into whats currently present disrupting whatever thing I was conjuring up or letting enter my thoughts...it puts you in the present by making use of what is in the physical.
If you do it correctly then any self created mental fear will dissipate by way of redirecting attention to mundane things in your current surroundings.
Would this work if you were in a dark forest alone?...maybe not. lol but for your average fear you can give it a try.
